Hi CSA Members. Resending the below as folks are reporting it was never received last week!

Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you for your patience these past few weeks, and apologies for any delay in communication. We have some updates regarding CSA distribution that we're happy provide to members:

  • The Summer CSA will officially begin the week of July 6, 2020! Currently, we are finalizing the day of the week with the farm. We can confirm it will be either Tuesday, July 7 or Wednesday, July 8. We hope to have that finalized and communicated ASAP. Each distribution will occur on the same day per week, for the remainder of the season.
  • Pickup Location and Time:
    • Please note that our pick up location for shares will be changing to promote social distancing. Previous pickups were done through the main entrance of the building at 14 East 28th Street. This season, we will be utilizing the gallery entrance to our ballroom, located at 10 E. 27th Street, to minimize traffic into and out of the residence. Please note this location is subject to change during the season, though we will be sure to communicate any changes in advance. Location change would only be from E. 27th St to E. 28th St, and vice versa.
  • COVID-19 Safety Protocol
    • We are requesting that all CSA members please wear PPE during pickup.
    • As previously mentioned, CSA shares will arrive pre-boxed for ease and safety during pickup.
    • Based on previous seasons, distributions generally occur with only a small number of members on-site at any given time. However, we may request members wait outside the gallery entrance if a handful of members are already on site picking up shares.
  • Other Updates
    • Norwich Meadows Farm has informed us that home delivery will not be an option for this season, owing to difficulty with scheduling a driver from the farm to accommodate this.
    • Due to the current pandemic, we are suspending volunteer sign up this season.
    • We are requesting that outstanding balances be paid by the date of first distribution. All members should have received an updated balance email, but please let us know if you have not.

If anyone has other questions, or is pending a response from us, feel free to contact me directly at mfores@breakingground.org. Stay tuned for further updates once we have confirmed our distribution day!

Despite the many challenges and uncertain times, we're excited to begin another season of the Summer CSA

Sincerely,

Miguel Fores

Dear CSA community,

We are writing to remind you that tomorrow is the LAST DAY to sign up for the CSA with the $50 Early Bird discount! We have many shares to choose from this season, including a variety of dairy, vegan, and fruit options. The cost will be only $370 for the base share – over 22 weeks, this breaks down to only $16.82 per week!

If you need some more time to decide, the final deadline will be May 1st, at which time the regular base price will be $420 (still just $19.09 per week). To further reduce the cost, many of our members split shares with co-workers, friends, and neighbors for even more affordable healthy eating options.

The Summer 2019 season will begin in mid-June and will include 22 weekly distributions. Pick-up time and location will remain the same as in previous years, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Prince George lobby (14 East 28th Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues).

Upon signing up for the Summer CSA, a $200 down payment is required – this bulk amount provides Norwich Meadows Farm with a stable financial base that allows them to buy seeds and hire labor without having to take out high interest loans. The remainder of your balance is due on the date of the first distribution.

This year, we are asking all members to complete a one-hour work shift during a distribution. Each shift will involve assisting with distribution and/or clean up. Please visit our Work Shift Page for more information about some of the changes we have made to our requirements this season.

Thank you for your continued support, and we are hoping you will join us for this summer’s season!  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Dear friends in Community Supported Agriculture,

I am writing to let you know that registration for the Summer 2018 season of the Prince George CSA is now open! We have many shares to choose from this season, including a variety of dairy, vegan, and fruit options.

The Summer 2018 season will begin in mid-June and will include 22 weekly distributions. Please note that due to some changes with the farm’s delivery times, distribution days for this summer have yet to be determined. Pick-up time and location will remain the same, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Prince George lobby (14 East 28th Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues).

We are excited to be able to offer you all an early bird special if you sign up by April 15th! The cost will be only $385 for the base share – over 22 weeks, this breaks down to only $17.50 per week! Additionally, if you sign up by this date, you will receive a FREE CSA tote bag with our new logo! If you need some more time to decide, the final deadline will be May 1st, at which time the regular base price is $410 (still just $18.64 per week). To further reduce the cost, many of our members split shares with co-workers, friends, and neighbors for even more affordable healthy eating options.

Upon signing up for the Summer CSA, a $200 down payment is required – this bulk amount provides Norwich Meadows Farm with a stable financial base that allows them to buy seeds and hire labor without having to take out high interest loans. The remainder of your balance is due on the date of the first distribution.

We ask that you check back soon to visit our VolunteerSpot page to sign up to contribute one evening of your time to support our CSA community. Each volunteer shift will be from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and will involve assisting with distribution and clean-up. If you are unable to commit to time required for working a shift or contributing to the newsletter, you are also welcome to make a monetary donation to help subsidize a share for the low-income and previously homeless tenants of the Prince George. And in order to support continued growth of our CSA community, we invite you to share recipes, articles, and ideas for our weekly newsletter.

Sign up here! (or at http://princegeorgecsa.com/members)

Thank you for your continued support, and we are hoping you will join us for this summer’s season!
